Iran Khodro halts 206 SD export over row with Peugeot

TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Peugeot 206 SD is the only vehicle model assembled by Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) which has entered the international export network of the French company Peugeot.
Following a disagreement with French automaker Peugeot, giant Carmaker Iran Khodro has ceased its 206 SD exports since the beginning of the year.Peugeot called Iran Khodro to reduce the price of exported 206 SD's by 10% as the global car market continues to suffer from weak demand, but the Iranian company has yet to accept the proposal.
Peugeot 206 SD is the only vehicle assembled by Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) under Peugeot brand which has entered the international export network of the French company.
However, negotiation over the proposal is still ongoing.
In 2006, Iran Khodro started exporting the 206 SD to countries like Russia, Turkey and Algeria.
The Middle East's largest automaker announced Sunday that the company had produced 58,000 more vehicles during the Iranian year that ended March 20. Comparing with the same period last year the figure suggests an improvement in the market.
IKCO currently produces vehicles under 11 different brand names. The company also manufactures various vehicle models in seven countries across the globe.
